About The Project

A & J Granite Solutions Ltd was recently appointed to supply and fit a full suite of kitchen worktops for a residential property in Mapperley Plains, Nottingham. 

The homeowners were undertaking a complete kitchen renovation and wanted a premium natural stone surface that would bring a sense of timeless luxury to their new space. After consulting with the team at A & J Granite Solutions, they selected stunning white quartz with flowing gold and taupe veining, finished to a high-gloss polish.

The Worktops & Stone Selected

The stone chosen for this project is stunning quartz in a white and warm cream tone, featuring dramatic veining in soft gold, light brown and taupe. The polished finish gives the surface a mirror-like quality, catching the light beautifully throughout the day. 

Quartz is an exceptionally hard-wearing natural stone, making it a practical as well as a striking choice for a busy family kitchen. It offers the luxurious appearance of marble with considerably greater resistance to scratching and everyday wear.

Surfaces Covered

The scope of the installation was substantial, covering every worktop surface within the kitchen:

• L-shaped worktops running along two walls of the main kitchen area.
• Upstands fitted to the rear edge of the worktops throughout.
• A full-height stone splashback positioned behind the Rangemaster range cooker, using the same material so that the stone flows seamlessly from the worktop surface up the wall.
• A carefully cut aperture accommodating a double-bowl white Belfast-style ceramic sink.
• A large central kitchen island, finished with the same polished quartz and a profiled bullnose edge, sitting atop a dark charcoal base unit

Achieving A Seamless Result

One of the most visually impressive aspects of this installation is the consistency of the veining across all surfaces. The team at A & J Granite Solutions carefully selected and positioned each slab so that the grain flows in a coherent direction throughout the kitchen, resulting in a cohesive and considered finish. 

The full-height splashback behind the range cooker is a particularly impactful feature, taking the stone from the worktop surface right up to the underside of the extractor hood and making sure the natural patterning continues without interruption.

The Finished Kitchen

Paired with classic shaker-style cabinetry in soft white, antique brass hardware and a large-format herringbone porcelain tile floor, the finished kitchen is a superb example of how natural stone can elevate a renovation project. The island, in particular, is a real centrepiece, with its generous proportions and high-gloss quartz surface drawing the eye immediately upon entering the room.
